The first batch of fault passage indicators has been successfully installed in Panama.
The smart sensors quickly detect an accident on the overhead lines and indicate the direction where the line damage occurred to the staff. The fault passage indicators are equipped with a built-in GSM module, that send information about the event directly to the dispatcher's SCADA system.
Panama's overhead power grids, like in the most of Latin and Central American countries, are affected by various natural factors, including tropical hurricanes, lightning, and high temperatures.
Implementation of modern diagnostic and protection systems for transmission and distribution lines is critically important to ensure reliable operation of the country's energy system.
