The Smart disconnector IDD is designed for remote operational sectionalizing of 6-36 kV overhead lines and selective detection of permanent and transient faults, including short-circuit and earth faults.

Integration of the Lodestar IDD into a power line automation system enables building an efficient and cost‑effective line sectionalizing system. The smart disconnector provides a visible break between equipment taken out for maintenance and energized equipment.
